I was a bit skeptical of the Mythic Rare cards coming out and after seeing some of them, my skepticism still continues; however, there is one card that I could see played in almost every deck across the board in Vintage. I definitely can see this going into artifact decks and I would assume this card would be restricted almost right off the bat considering time restraints at Tournaments.

Lich's Mirror: 5

Artifact

If you would lose the game, instead shuffle your hand, your graveyard, and
all permanents you own into your library, then draw seven cards and your
life total becomes 20.

First off, whats the deal with Mythic Rare? Any benefits or limitations for that sub-type?

Since its 5 mana this might see play in Shop decks.....It would be nice vs. a huge Tendrils for sure. But against Oath or any aggro, it seems like it would only delay the inevitable. Kinda hard to weld it back in when it takes away your welders and gy to boot.

Any other decks that could benefit from this? Would a Drain based deck want to lose its mana development and start all over while their opponent remains unaffected?

O, just thought of another deck that mightbe able to use this. Some hi-powered Belcher with Summoners Pact and/or Pact of Negation. Thats just a guess though. I imagine if you didnt see Belcher but were able to cast this card, it could buy you enough time even if you didnt use Pact. Seems kinda like it could work like a delayed draw 7. Belcher really doesnt care too much that it would see 7 cards without any permanents left...

What do u guys think?

Mythic Rares are just an added rarity that if I remember are 1 per 15 packs. As far as I had figured, mythic rares will allow WotC to print some of the mid priced rares. This may benefit us by increasing the circulation of T1 staple cards while not greatly impacting collectible card quality. For instance this may be a way for Wizards to Reprint Duals and other rares ranging from $30 to $50 dollars. I've seen some cards in the mythic rare catagory that should just only be rare, so in the end it could be just a bad move on wizards part if they do not print quality cards in this slot.

Well personally, I've been recently compiling a file of primers & articles that have help me develop my approach to the game and I stumbled upon an old article from the ferret about "pet" cards and things of that nature. Even though Lich's Mirror hasn't seen print yet, I think the concept applies here.

This card may be a booster for decks that are streamlined mono-color and can produce mana quickly; somewhat viable in SuiBlack methinks. Maybe viable in Charbelcher, but at the end of the day as tempting as the card looks I just can't get into it. To me it has that initial glance of "wow this card look is friggen awesome" but after you let it sink in, it's ok at best and might be played by a limited number of people before they scrap the card.
